The Henry County, Ohio, community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of a young life following a devastating two-vehicle collision that occurred Saturday afternoon in Pleasant Township. The tragic crash claimed the life of a juvenile passenger and left another seriously injured, leaving family members, friends, classmates, and residents grieving an unimaginable loss.
According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 4:46 p.m. to the intersection of County Road Y and County Road 18. Preliminary investigations indicate that a southbound vehicle driven by a 17-year-old male from New Bavaria entered the intersection after reportedly failing to stop at a posted stop sign. The vehicle then collided with a westbound vehicle driven by Tyler Niese, 38, of Leipsic.
One juvenile passenger in the southbound vehicle suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities have not publicly released the victim’s identity out of respect for the family and pending notifications. A second juvenile passenger sustained serious injuries and was transported for emergency medical treatment before being airlifted to St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo.
