EL PASO, Texas — Thousands of residents experienced power interruptions across multiple El Paso-area neighborhoods as utility crews worked to restore electrical service following several outages affecting homes, businesses, and public infrastructure.
According to reports from local utility officials, outages have impacted portions of East El Paso, Far East El Paso, Horizon City, and nearby communities. Service disruptions left many customers without electricity, affecting daily activities and causing temporary interruptions to traffic signals and business operations.
Utility crews were dispatched to investigate the outages and identify the source of the disruptions. In several incidents, electrical equipment failures and distribution system issues were cited as contributing factors. Officials reported that restoration efforts began immediately after outages were detected.
One outage affected more than 1,000 customers in East El Paso, while another larger event temporarily left over 5,000 customers without power. Additional service interruptions have also been reported in communities including Horizon City, Clint, Sparks, and Fabens.
Residents affected by the outages reported disruptions to internet access, air conditioning systems, household appliances, and other essential services. Traffic congestion was also reported in some areas where signalized intersections temporarily lost power.
Utility representatives stated that crews continue monitoring the electrical grid and responding to outage reports as they occur. Technicians are inspecting equipment, repairing damaged components, and restoring service to affected customers as quickly and safely as possible.
Emergency management officials encourage residents to prepare for potential outages by keeping mobile devices charged, maintaining emergency supplies, and using flashlights instead of candles whenever possible. Drivers are also reminded to treat non-functioning traffic signals as four-way stops.
Customers seeking updates on restoration timelines are encouraged to monitor official utility communications and outage tracking systems for the latest information regarding service restoration efforts.
Additional updates are expected as crews complete repairs and restore power to any remaining affected areas.
